Causes & Symptoms for Mercurius vivus For acute disorders of the skin and mucous membranes characterized by severe inflammation with pus Urinary tract infections; and diseases of the skin, backache Indigestion , mouth ulcers, and toothache accompanied by heavy salivation Foul-smelling perspiration; foul-smelling breath and body odor Dry at night, in daytime, expectoration of a thin, acrid, purulent, yellow mucus often mixed with bright red Mind and Head Easily irritated by temperature or other environmental changes. Quarrelsomeness and dissatisfaction. Restlessness, an agitated quality, and a tendency toward impatience and willfulness. Burning, sticking, festering, ascending from naps is relieved with mercurius Vivus. Eyes, ear, nose Eye infections with discharges of pus; bacterial infections with pus behind the eardrum Pain as of a cutting body under lids, aversion to light and firelight. Violent, fluent coryza, acrid watery discharge and Sneezing. Mouth and Throat Swelling of parotid gland. Difficult bearing, after blowing nose. Sore throats with open patches of skin and pus formation is relieved with mercurius Vivus. The mouth and gums are typically sore and inflamed, swollen gums, with nightly burning, smarting pains Induration of submaxillary glands. Sticking pain in throat and tonsils when swallowing. Stomach and abdomen Burning in the chest and abdomen, desire for cold drinks. Inflammatory swelling, suppuration of inguinal glands is relieved with mercurius Vivus. Urinary complaints Excessive urination, Nocturnal, with frequent dark red urination. Male complaints Burning pain on urination accompanied by thick mucus or pus from the urethra. Female complaints Heavy periods, with painful cramps and anxiety is relieved with mercurius Vivus. Neck and Back Swollen cervical glands, with sticking pains therein. Bruised pain in back and lumbar region is relieved with mercurius Vivus. Extremities Painful swelling of bones of feet. Hot, red swelling of forearm Great debility and weakness from slight exertion is relieved with mercurius Vivus. Skin Pimply eruption on chin. Burning of skin with almost all pains Hot inflammations with tardy formation of pus is relieved with mercurius Vivus. Generalities Tremble or shake, are generally weak, and easily tired by activity. Infected parts of the body take a long time to heal and often appear severely diseased Worse by temperature extremes, open air, drafts, a warm bed, evening, being touched, lying on the right side, feeling sweaty, or eating something sweet. Better in moderate temperatures, dry weather, and sitting up while at rest relieves the complaints.
