AVN Chitrakasavam 

Description:Chitrakasavam is an Ayurvedic medicine in liquid form, used in the treatment of leucoderma. It is more commonly used in South Indian Ayurveda practice. It contains 5 10 % of self generated alcohol in it. This self generated alcohol and the water present in the product acts as a media to deliver water and alcohol soluble the active herbal components to the body.

Chitrakasavam benefits
It is used in the Ayurvedic treatment of

• Shwitra leucoderma
• Kushta skin diseases and anemia
• Indicated in piles and dropsy, increases digestion.

Chitrakasav dose:

• 5 10 ml. one or two times a day, usually advised after food.
• If needed, it can be mixed with equal quantity of water.
• It can be administered for a period of 4 6 weeks.

Pathya:
Strict pathya rules are essential.

Chitrakasavam side effects and precautions:

1. Over-dosage is best avoided.
2. Store in a cool dry place.
3. It is best avoided in pregnancy and lactation.
4. Pregnant, lactating mothers and children should seek medical advice before taking this medicine.

Chitrakasavam ingredients:
Gomutra cow urine
Chitraka Plumbago zeylanica
Vyosha Trikatu ginger, pepper and long pepper
Kshaudra honey

All these ingredients along with water is taken in a vessel smeared with ghee. Left for fermentation for 15 days, then the contents are filtered.
Usually distilled Cow urine is used in this medicine preparation.

Shelf life 10 years from the date of manufacture.
